BACKSTAGE IN THE GARDEN

FRIDAY AUGUST 12TH (RAIN DATE - SATURDAY AUGUST 13TH)
5:30 PM ARRIVALS
6PM-ISH WELCOME SPEECH

9PM GO HOME!

We are having a party in our garden to ring in our fall shows at Make Do & The Indian Boundary Nature Center and rally our community to support these new works. Please come have drinks with us in the outdoor backstage of our performance space and get a peek at what we are working on. Bring a friend to introduce to Khecari's work or come solo. We would love to have you join our village of supporters as a monthly donor.

We'll also have our operations intern, Arden Lapin, screenprinting the Khecari logo on any dark pieces of clothing / tote bags / other linens / anything else you want Khecari'd.

Can't join the party but still want to support the work? No donation is too small >> www.khecari.org/contribute

A big shout out to our Board of Trustees and BYOBoard folks who handled much of the party planning organizing; Amy Ornee, Scott Lundius, Anna Minkov, Heather LaHood, Maggie Kast, Emma Casey and Precious Jennings. We appreciate you!

JOIN OUR VILLAGE

The theory is that homo sapiens evolved the capacity to interact in a meaningful way with a limited number of people. This is how many people we can know by name and consider a friend. Humans lived in villages and tribes of this size up until the agricultural revolution concentrated populations. Then social organization became the job of governments and of cities themselves, rather than the result of relationships. Named for British anthropologist Robin Dunbar, “Dunbar’s number” is proposed at 100-250 and typically cited as 150.

But Khecari is small, and we like small things. We want a village of 120. Join us as a monthly donor. We’ve got folks at $1/month, folks at $300/month, and everywhere in between. We know them all by name and cherish them all.

It’s a hard time for the arts. We’re not looking for growth. Rather we asked ourselves, what can make us sustainable over the years, even as grant money dwindles and the dance field is radically remade? This was our answer: a little village of people who care about what we do and support us at whatever capacity they can.
